THE
AWARD THIS TIME FOR
PLOD OF THE YEAR FOR 2001
Goes to Inspector Paul Gillot for leading a heavey
handed police operation,
that backfired in a legal action against Dorset Police, where the
County Councils
bent legal department had to spend money when an action was taken
against
the police draconian methods. We are told from an inside source
that the assistant
chief constable Chris Lee was overall in charge of operational policing.
He would have to
approve of sending in riot police. Furthermore some bright spark at
Police HQ thought
they would score Brownie Points by inviting the press to watch the
police ordering
travellers to leave the site. Chris Lee has scince been promoted to
Deputy Chief Constable following the departure of the
previous bent boy in the post.
The Travellers objected to riot police with CS Gas
ordering them to leave the site. they found themselves some Gipsy
Friendly Lawyers and started an action in the High Court over the
way the police had acted.
